Yanks take Game 1 vs Texas

NEW YORK – The Yankees sent out young Will Warren, who has pitched well this month looking to get a season high 9-games over .500.

Injury Report:

  • Jazz Chisholm Jr. was hitting off a tee in Pregame today, progressing from his oblique injury

Notes/Analysis:

  • FINAL: 5-2 NYY
    • WP: Warren (3-2) 4.05
    • LP: Corbin (3-3) 3.35
    • SV: Weaver (6)

  • Will Warren's Final Line:
    • 5.2 IP | 5 H | 0 R | 0 ER | 10 K | 1 BB | 101 P | 4.05 ERA
      • This was one of Warrens best outings in his young career. All of his pitches were electric tonight and he was really dominant.
      • His defense also helped him with a really nice catch by Peraza to lead off the sixth inning.
  • The Yankees got the scoring started early in the second with a Ben Rice no-doubter making it 1-0 Yanks early.
  • The Yankees would add on with a Ben Rice Sac Fly in the third inning, making it 2-0 NYY
  • Anthony Volpe would bloop a hit to score Goldschmidt who never stopped running and Volpe advanced to second because he never stopped running, turning a single into a double.
    • Volpe had two really good at-bats tonight, including this one. Good to see some better at-bats from Volpe because of how important he is to the team offensively.
  • Aaron Judge hit his AL-Leading 16th home run, a two-run shot into the short porch, making it 5-0 NYY.
  • Ian Hamilton gave up a 2-run HR to Jonah Heim, with two outs and two strikes in the ninth inning, then a triple in the gap. Hamilton is posting a 5.06 ERA in 2025 and has struggled this season.
  • Luke Weaver came in to get 1-out and got the job done on 2 pitches.
