Yanks power their way to a Series Win in Pittsburgh
Takeaways from Today's Game:
Pittsburg, PA — The Yankees slugged their way to taking the series against the Pirates.
⚾️ Final Score: 10-4 NYY
WP: Leiter Jr. (1-1) 6.23
LP: Falter (0-1) 8.10
📰 Trent Grisham had a 2-Homer game and has been on fire. The Offense woke up in the top of the 5th inning, after Marcus Stroman, who was cruising , gave up 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Anthony Volpe and Paul Goldschmidt also had impressive offensive performances. The Bullpen was NAILS today, not allowing a run.
📊 Record: 6-2
📈 Streak: W3
🗓️ : Sunday at PIT 1:35 p.m. ET (Warren vs. Heaney)
Marcus Stroman was cruising through the first three innings, allowing just 1 hit, an Oneil Cruz Double with 2-outs in the first. Then, with a two-run lead, Stroman lost his stuff. He began by Walkinging the first two batters, allowing an RBI double to Ke’Bryan Hayes, then walking Suwinski to load the bases with no outs. Stroman then records a strikeout before allowing a two-run double to Emmanuel Valdez and then an RBI groundout to Endy Rodriguez, before getting IKF to ground out to end the inning. That would be it for Stroman as Boone elected to go to the Bullpen once the Yankees got the lead back in the top of the 5th.

The Yankee lineup top to bottom was very good today. Every hitter in the lineup recorded a hit, and Wells got the Yankees started in the second with an RBI single.
But the top performer was Trent Grisham. Grisham was brought to the Yankees in the trade with the Padres in December of 2023, and Grish did not get many at-bats last year. Grisham has been on fire to begin the season, and had a 2 Homer game today:
Anthony Volpe continued his hot start by delivering the big blow, and Bases-Clearing double in the 5th inning to really put the game away and pick up Stroman:
The Yankees added 2 more runs late on a Paul Goldschmidt RBI single and an Austin Wells Sac Fly.
The Yankee bullpen, as I mentioned earlier, was NAILS allowing just 1 hit (an infield single from Ke’Bryan Hayes) and that was really it. Great performance from a Bullpen that had an otherwise tough week.

I will close by again mentioning that the Yankees have not had an Error since their 5-error game last Saturday.
