NEW YORK – The Yankees looked to take the series on Saturday afternoon, but failed to do so.

Injury Report:

Notes/Analysis:

  • FINAL: 3-2 NYM
    • WP: Garret (1-1) 1.00
    • LP: Cruz (1-2) 2.66
    • SV: Diaz (10)
  • Record: 26-19

  • Clarke Schmidt's Final Line:
    • 6.0 IP | 3 H | 2 R | 2 ER | 5 K | 5 BB | 88 P | 4.41 ERA
      • Clarke started off perfect through three innings, throwing just 27 pitches.
      • The Fourth inning was laborious, where he gave up 2 runs (Single by Alonso and a Sac Fly from Vientos), throwing 25 pitches and facing 8 hitters in the inning. He made a big pitch to leave the bases loaded.
  • The Yankees got the first blow, a Solo Shot from DJ LeMahieu in the Third inning.
  • The Yankee Offense besides that was silent through the first few innings, not really working at-bats
  • In the fifth inning, the Yanks got 2 on with no outs (Escarra Walk and DJLM Single), but Vivas strikes out, Rice Lines out and Judge grounds out.
    • The lack of situational awareness shows up again. Why isn't Vivas bunting? That likely would have allowed Escarra to score on a Sac Fly to tie the game, instead, no runs scored and the other team still leads.
  • Bellinger hits a HR to tie the game
  • The Yankees certainly had their chances in this one, but poor management of the game by Boone costed them.
  • Fernando Cruz was awful in the top of the ninth inning, walking one, allowing a hit and hitting a batter to load the bases, then a Sac Fly from Lindor. Soto would ground out to end the threat, but the Mets took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the Ninth.
  • Yankees went 1-2-3 off Diaz. They are now 5-13 in 1-run games.
