DENVER – The Yankees lost to the worst team in MLB history, the now 9-42 Rockies.

The Yankees took an early 1-0 lead in the first and held it for four innings. The Yankees had chances, but either stranded runners or grounded into double plays to end innings. Or, they would swing at the first pitch in at-bats, leading to quick innings. This might be the best win for the Rockies this season.

Clarke Schmidt did not pitch well, at all. He could not put hitters away and looked lost on the mound. There were runners on base the whole game and he could not make it out of the fifth inning. These are the ROCKIES, not the Dodgers or Giants.

Clarke's Final Line:
4.2 IP | 6 H | 3 R | 3 ER | 8 K | 2 BB | 97 P | 4.58 ERA

97 pitches is the most Clarke has had this season. He had long innings all night.

Aaron Judge hit his first career homer at Coors Field in the fifth inning, giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead at the time.

The rest of the offense was silet. This was easily the most frustrating game of the season. The Yankees should NOT lose to this team. It feels like the Yankees play down to the competition every time they play inferior teams, like they did last summer against the White Sox. I've seen some bad losses, but the Yankees should not be losing games to that team. I know the Ump missed some bad calls that costed the Yankees, but that can't be the excuse.

While we all clown the Rockies, they are still a major league team and need to be recognized as such.

The Yankees also need to make some lineup changes ahead of tomorrow. Anthony Volpe needs to be batting 8th. He can't be in the middle of the lineup when he provides nothing offensive for the Yankees. There are too many automatic outs, like Vivas, Volpe, LeMahieu, and Peraza.

The Yankees have another try tomorrow with their Ace on the bump.
