Yanks take Game 1 in Anaheim

ANAHEIM – The Yankees began a series against the Angles, who have been hot as of late, sending lefty Ryan Yarbrough out to face the Angels.

- Jazz Chisholm Jr. is set to complete a full workout on Tuesday, and if all goes well, he could begin a rehab assignment later in the week.

Notes/Analysis:
- FINAL: 5-1 NYY
- WP: Yarbrough (2-0) 3.12
- LP: Kochanowicz (3-6) 5.02
- Record: 33-20
- The Yankees hold a 6 game lead in the AL East and are 1.5 games back of the Detroit Tigers for best record in the AL.
- 13 games over .500 is the most by the Yankees, so far, in 2025.
- Ryan Yarborough's Final Line:
- 6.0 IP | 2 H | 1 R | 1 ER | 7 K | 1 BB | 88 P | 3.12 ERA
- Yarbs gave up a leadoff homer to Zach Neto, but retired 18 of the next 20 batters he faced. He has been a godsend for the Yankees in their rotation.
- 6.0 IP | 2 H | 1 R | 1 ER | 7 K | 1 BB | 88 P | 3.12 ERA
- The Angels starter, Jack Kochanowicz, pitched awesome today and kept the Yankees at bay in every inning, except the fourth. The Yankees would load the bases with no outs, trailing by a run. Bellinger would walk to tie the game and then Anthony Volpe cleared the bases with an RBI double.
- The Yankees would add a run after loading the bases with no outs in the eighth inning, with Austin Wells hitting a Sac Fly.
- Yerry De Los Santos would pitch a clean seventh inning and 1 out into the eighth inning.
- Mark Leiter Jr. allowed a hit, giving Yankees fan some anxiety in the bottom of the eighth, but escaped his jam unscaved.
- Luke Weaver was sent out to pitch the ninth inning of a non-save situation. Weaver definity has not had his best stuff the past two days, and I don't know why Boone used him two days in a row. Two outings where Weaver did not look himself, but to his credit, he got out of it unscaved.
- The only run given up by Yankees pitching was the leadoff homer tonight.
