The Yankees NEED starting pitching, and it can't wait till July

New York – It's. getting late early for the Yankees here in 2025. Their starting pitching has been an utter disaster, besides from Max Fried, in 2025.
The Yankees are 7-0 in 2025 when Fried starts, and after Sunday's loss to the Rays, they are now 12-15 when someone else starts.
Will Warren got the start on Sunday and did not pitch well at all, allowing 5 runs (3 earned) in 4.2 innings of work. His command was off all day, issuing 3 walks, but he struck out eight. My point being 2/5ths of the Yankee rotation is awful. Warren and Carrasco are not MLB starters, and certainly not starters for team with World Series aspirations.
The Yankees hold first place in the AL East, but with tougher games coming up over the next month, I see the Yankees AL East lead diminishing quick as they play a tough schedule in the month of May.
Carlos Rodon's past 3 starts have been good, but he is inconsistent and is sort of a ticking time bomb at times. Clarke Schmidt has not been the same Clarke Schmidt that we saw last season so far in 2025, though I believe he is in there somewhere.
The point of this: The Yankees can't afford to give up 2 out of every 5 games, at least because they are pitching Warren and Carrasco, making it difficult if someone else has a bad start. They need to make a trade or do something, quick.
Players like Sandy Alcantara, who has not pitched well in 2025, will likely be available at the deadline, will be too expensive for the Yankees. A more likely option is Pablo Lopez of the Minnesota Twins. Lopez is 2-2 with a 2.25 ERA for the Yankees. All Lopez needs to do is pitch like a league average starter and the Yankees and their fans would be satisfied.
Another option for the Yankees is Erick Fedde from the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards are in the middle of a rebuild right now and Fedde is a free agent after the 2025 season, so it would help the Cardinals to get prospects back from the Yankees.
Of the known options (because as teams fall out of contention, teams become sellers), Lopez is certainly the best option based on his 2025 season so far and the fact that Lopez has more experience pitching in the American League, and has a 1.53 career postseason ERA (in 3 starts).
Important to note that the Yankees expect Luis Gil back by the end of June, if all goes well in his Rehab, so if he performed to the capability he did the majority of 2025, the Yankees could get away with getting only one starter at the trade deadline.
