DENVER – The Yankees had to win this game after Yesterday's disaster, and they sent their Ace, Max Fried out to make it happen.

Injury Report/Roster Moves:

  • Jazz Chisholm Jr. has begun to hit off the Traject Machine
  • Fernando Cruz played catch today and could be pitching off a mound by next week.

Notes/Analysis:

  • FINAL: 12-1 NYY
    • WP: Fried (7-0) 1.29
    • LP: Freeland (0-7) 6.02
  • Record: 31-20
    • The Yankees hold a 5 game lead in the AL East and are 1.5 games back of the Detroit Tigers for best record in the AL.
    • 11 games over .500 is the most by the Yankees, so far, in 2025.

  • Max Fried's Final Line:
    • 7.1 IP | 2 H | 1 R | 1 ER | 7 K | 1 BB | 83 P | 1.29 ERA
      • What more is there to say about Max Fried. He was awesome again today and was able to make sure the Yankees were in this game till they broke it open.
      • Max also did a good job of keeping the pressure on the Rockies and not letting a 10-run lead influence his pitching decisions by continuing to throw strikes.
  • The Yankees hit into 4 double plays in today, 6 in this series so far.
  • Aaron Judge hit his MLB-Leading 18th Homer in the first to make it 1-0 Early.
  • The Rockies would get the run back after an E3 on a pickoff throw lead to an RBI triple.
  • The Yankees would explode in the fifth inning, scoring 10 runs:
    • Wells Single
    • Peraza RBI Double (2-1 NYY)
    • Goldschmidt Walk
    • Grisham Grounds into an E3 (3-1 NYY)
    • Judge IBB
    • Bellinger Sac Fly (4-1 NYY)
    • Volpe RBI single (5-1 NYY)
    • Dominguez Sac Fly (6-1 NYY)
    • LeMahieu Single
    • Wells 2-run double (8-1 NYY)
    • Peraza Walk
    • Goldschmidt RBI single (9-1 NYY)
    • Grisham 2-RBI double (11-1 NYY)
    • Judge Strikeout
  • The Yankees would continue their offensive production to no avail, loading the bases with 1 out in the 6th inning, but they come up empty.
  • Bellinger lead off the eighth with a triple, and scored on the next pitch, an RBI double by Volpe. After a Dominguez walk, LeMahieu hit an RBI single, making it 13-1 NYY.
  • Ian Hamilton comes on with 1 out in the eighth, allows 2 hits, but strikes out two.

Other Notes:

  • All 11 Yankee Hitters (starting 9, then Escarra and Reyes) recorded at least 1 hit
  • The Yankees had a season-high 21 hits
  • Judge, Goldi, and Bellinger all own Lefties this season.
  • Dominguez had 2 hits and a Sac Fly from the right side. The Flyout and Sac Fly were extremely hard hit. He looks more comfortable from the right side today.
  • Trent Grisham has been struggling over the past 2 weeks, so it might be time to shuffle the lineup
  • Anthony Volpe should not be in the top 6 of the lineup.
