Max Fried Fried the Rays in series finale in Tampa:
My Takeaways from Today's game:
Tampa, FL — The Yankees are able to get out of Tampa with a series win, three games to one against the Rays.
⚾️ Final Score: 4-0 Yankees over the Rays
WP: Fried (4-0) 1.42
LP: Pepiot (1-3) 4.82
SV: Cruz (2)
📰 Max Fried took a no-hitter into the 6th inning and pitched like the Ace he is. The offense did enough to put some runs on the board, early with 3 solo HR’s (Grisham, Bellinger & Wells), and an RBI groundout. Judge hit a ball that appears to be a Homer, but Replay did not overturn the call, he struck out looking on a pitch that appeared low, and Aaron Boone was subsequently ejected for the 1st time in 2025 and 40th time as Skipper. Fernando Cruz got the final 4 outs of the game, and his second save.
📊 Record: 14-8
📈 Streak: W1
🗓️: Monday at CLE: RHP Clarke Schmidt (0-0, 4.76) vs. RHP Gavin Williams (1-1, 4.58)
Max Fried pitched like an ACE today. He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but was lost on a ground ball to Goldschmidt that was originally called an E3, but was later changed. Fried pitched great two outs into the eighth inning.

Fernando Cruz came in and got the last four outs of the game, but he walked three in the process, but a hard-hit grounder was hit to Volpe and he started the six-four-three Double Play to end the game.
The Yankee offense got started right away with a Trent Grisham homer. Grisham has been one of the Yankees hottest hitters, and this trend continued today, as he crushed his sixth homer of 2025.
Then, in the third inning, Bellinger grounded into a forceout bringing home a run, making it 2-0.
Then, in the sixth inning, Cody Bellinger homered (he has homered on 4/20 for the third straight year). This is his first blast since March 29th, and hopefully this sparks him going forward.
In the 7th inning, we got some fireworks. Aaron Judge hit this ball to the moon, and it was called a foul ball on the field. It went to replay, and despite it being clearly fair, it was still ruled foul. Then, Judge was punched out on a pitch that appeared low. Protecting his Captan, Aaron Boone would be ejected from the game for the first time in 2025, and the 40th time in his career, and he got his money’s worth.

Austin Wells hit a homer in the ninth inning, Austin Wells hit his fourth homer of the year, one that could not be overturned, extending the lead to 4-0. The homer hit to the opposite field is impressive showing how much power Wells has, and is a great sign going forward as the Yankees would love for him to get going.
The Yankees have won back-to-back series for the first time in 2025, and are hold the best record in the American League, and the fourth best in Baseball.
The Yankees will head to Cleveland to take on the Guardians for a midweek series at Progressive Field. The last time the Yankees were at Progressive Field, they won the AL Pennant.
