Life Takes Priority Over Baseball as Oswaldo Cabrera Suffers Ankle Injury in Emotional Scene in Seattle

SEATTLE – There is a rather somber feeling in the Yankees community after Utility Player Oswaldo Cabrera injured his ankle while scoring on a Sac Fly by Aaron Judge.

The whole mood in T-Mobile Park changed as the ambulance came out to cart Cabrera off the field in the ninth inning. You could tell just how deflaiting this was to the team.

Trent Grisham was interviewed by Meredith Marakovits and said this about Oswaldo:

"He shows up everyday with the right attitude, plays the game hard, and he's the best person off the field."

Full Video (disclaimer: it is very tough to watch from an emotions standpoint):

When Aaron Boone was asked about Cabrera, he had nothing but good things to say about Oswaldo Cabrera, and had sort of a somber tone as well.

Boone noted that Cabrera asked Judge if he had scored the 11th run, smiling when Judge replied yes. That is the ultimate team player, caring about the game and the team winning rather than himself.

Oswaldo seems like one of the nicest people and always has a smile on his face. You can tell he genuinely loves being a Yankee and playing the game of Baseball.

Aaron Judge meet the media and said:

"What Cabrera's meant to this team, what he means to me. You know, a guy that shows up early does his work, you know, he, he cares for everybody in this room. You know, he cares. He loves being a Yankee. You know, he wears his jersey with pride."

Clarke Schmidt also meet the media and said:

"It's, it's tough, but obviously knowing the, the player that, and person that Cabbi is and the way he carries himself and he shows up to the park every day with a smile on his face and, you know, he is always, he's always given his best effort out there, whether it's defensively or offensively, and, you know, doing the right things on the field and off the field and just a great person and a really great spirit. And so it's tough. I think, you know, it definitely leaves a sour taste in your mouth and obviously it was a, was a great win tonight. But, um, you know, we're feeling for Cabbi for sure."

Watching these postgame interviews have been tough tonight. You can really tell how much of an impact Oswaldo Cabrera has on the team, both on and off the field. This is bigger than the game of baseball, this is Family.

"Hey, did I Score", tells you all you need to know about Oswaldo as a person and as a teammate. Prayers up. Get well soon, Oswaldo.
