Is this the end of the Str0 Sh0w in the BX?

Baltimore, MD — Marcus Stroman was placed on the 15-Day IL on April 12th after giving up 5 runs before he recorded an out in is last outing on Friday, April 11th.
The Yankees say that it is something with his left knee. At first, I thought it was a phantom IL stint to fine tune his stuff and get him off the big stage in the Bronx, but I no longer think that’s the case.
Aaron Boone noted that he had an injection in his left knee, but that was almost two weeks ago. When asked yesterday, Boone said that there were no new updates and he was still dealing with his knee issues.
As Yankees Twitter was analyzing this last night, an interesting tweet came across and lead me to writing this article:
Don’t be surprised if we don’t see Stroman again this season. Was told by some smart people that they believe it’s a degenerative issue https://t.co/ZBCCeE9IpM

For context, the person who tweeted this has serious connections in the Yankees front office and knows what he is talking about.
The Yankees believe that the problem may be a degenerative nerve issue, which is significantly more serious than it might initially appear. A degenerative nerve issue refers to a condition where the nerves gradually deteriorate over time, losing their ability to properly transmit signals between the brain, spinal cord, and muscles. In the context of a pitcher, this can be devastating — nerves control fine motor skills, muscle strength, reflexes, and coordination. As the nerve function declines, a pitcher might experience symptoms like numbness, tingling, muscle weakness, reduced grip strength, pain, and loss of control over pitches.
Over time, if the nerve damage progresses, it could not only reduce the pitcher’s effectiveness on the mound but could potentially threaten their ability to continue pitching at all without significant treatment or surgery. This is why the team is extremely concerned: it’s not just a typical strain or inflammation that could heal with rest, but a condition that could have long-term consequences for the player’s career.
So, is this the end of Marcus Stroman in New York or quite possibly his career? We shall see, more to come.
