BREAKING: NY Giants Trade Back into First Round, Draft Jaxson Dart
Green Bay — The Giants pulled the trigger. Heading into the draft, everyone knew that GM Joe Schoen and HC Brian Daboll were going to operate this draft as if their jobs depended on it, and they clearly did.
Late in the first round, the Giants completed a trade with number 25 Houston Texans.

Around the 16th round, there was the feeling that the Giants were trying to make a move to get back into the first round to draft a QB, and after trying and coming up short, they were able to get a deal done.
The most impressive part of this trade was not giving up a ton of capital. While the Giants were on the clock, the Falcons traded back into the first round, trading with the number 26 Rams, and the Giants gave up NOTHING compared to what the Falcons gave up:

GM Joe Schoen fleeced on this trade.
Now, we get to the pick. Drafting Dart late in the first round was a really smart move. It was clear that Brian Daboll really liked Dart and his athleticism and ability to push the ball down field.
Dart will not be the starter in 2025, but will sit and learn from Russell Willson and Jameis Winston.
After finalizing the pick, H.C. Brian Daboll said this about the QB situation:
(SNY Giants):
"Russ will be our starter and that's how it will be once we get started here in the spring"
Brian Daboll on Jaxson Dart as a player and why he appealed as a choice:
"I like the way he plays. I like his competitive fire. I like his accuracy. I like his ability to push the ball down the field, his athletic ability to run with the football."
Brian Daboll was asked about Jaxson Dart's personality and why he's a good fit to be a quarterback in New York, saying:
(SNY Giants):
"He has the traits that we look for and covet in a guy to be able to learn and grow."
The Giants will have another Ole Miss QB to develop and hopefully make their franchise QB.
